Subject happens as it happens, like to go with the Spirit of the Time , keeping works of art topical to happenings around ...(ZeitGeist) Materials are classical, the finest oil paints from old recipes on linen canvas, though dammar varnish uses oranges rather than turpentine, knife to paint instead of animal hair brushes, stretcher bar wood from Paulownia, which like a Phoenix, regrows from roots in five years if the trunk is taken, & paint has resins added instead of oil to quicken dr
ying in so humid by the lake studio where work... method is rooted in automatism, which allows for a freedom of expression, though my subconscious seems so much more specific than it did when sold first work professionally in 1993...It seems the subliminal memories arrived first in works until, finally, all was brought forth to the eye, & now work is more present & future vision based than before... comfort with abstraction allows works to be closer to reality, as, in many ways, realism is actually very abstract...Ethically, am bound by many rules, too numerous for this prudish character to mention, though the mere hint of likeness often scares into dissolving the image with a gentle opaque glaze to obscure recognition...Like a movie star wears sunglasses, hide subjects subtly, for their own privacy...
Sari Grove, mini-bio...
Sari Grove is a Canadian icy cold Northern born blueish light tending towards miserable, knife 'n oils painter, educated internationally & locally, though living free range philosophically, as if all that formal training was merely an appetizer to the main course...Her paintings are admired & enjoyed by those who have opportunity to see them, including far away fans who have connected using the web portal to view...For those who like the physicality of an original work of art, the Kohl Gallery of Arts represents Sari Grove, & will gladly show works of art in person to those interested in collecting rather than just viewing digitally...
